In April 2017, I pursued an art residency at Main Street Arts in Clifton Springs, NY. I decided to apply for the residency at a time when I was waiting to hear back from various marketing/ public relations proposals that I thought were going to fall through. Of course, the second I was accepted, the clients ended up signing on and I was having to balance that on top of the residency! Since Clifton Springs is only about thirty minutes east of Rochester and one of the clients was in Newark, I was able to make it all work.
The time I spent there would prove invaluable to me as I realized that having more time and a space devoted to my practice was really what I wanted. During the residency, I completed ten paintings, hosted an inner animal workshop, made a few new friends, and got familiar with the offerings on Main Street – specifically, Warfield’s. I’m excited to share that since my time spent at Main Street Arts, they have become a non-profit arts organization and are working on expanding this residency program. On Thursday, April 4, they will be partnering with Warfield’s and Inspire Moore Winery to host The Artist at the Table – a dinner event where you can dine with one of five former arts residents (yes, I am one of them!) Tickets are $75 each and can be purchased here. If you are in the area, I hope you’ll join us for a delicious evening and learn more about this program.
In addition to this VIP dinner, there will be a Residency Alumni Exhibition opening April 6 through May 17. I will have work in the show along with over forty former residents.
