Polluted Coral Reef/ Sea Turtle Acrylic Painting
"Uncivilized Lunch" | Acrylic on canvas | 2018
Reduced use of straws and other plastic has been highly encouraged over the past few years. Part of an addendum to the Shiny Beautiful Things series, these sea turtles have convened on the reef for a less than desirable snack. Measures 10" W x 10 " H, acrylic on canvas, unframed, but wired to hang.
For the first installment of Shiny Beautiful Things paintings, I decided to explore why we classify certain animals as trashy and hold others in such high esteem, considering we develop buildings on their natural habitats and are responsible for the majority of the trash on this planet.
In this particular piece, I wanted to show the devastation we cause to animals and their habitats.
